221 1 "I Must Have Lost it on the Wind" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (1/12)
* Jason George as Ben Warren (1/13)
* Kate Burton as Ellis Grey credit only
With Cristina gone, a new doctor, Maggie Pierce, making the rounds, and Derek wanting to move to Washington D.C., Meredith struggles to regain a sense of normalcy both at home and in the hospital. Meanwhile, Callie and Arizona come to a decision about surrogacy, Amelia overhears a big secret, Bailey realizes she will have to fight Alex for Cristina’s board seat, and a freak accident causes two teenagers to be caught in a very compromising position. * This is the first Grey's Anatomy episode to not feature Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang and also the first episode to feature Caterina Scorsone as a series regular.
* It's also the first season premiere since her introduction not to feature Zola Grey Shepherd.
* The phrase "Previously on Grey's Anatomy" is narrated by Sandra Oh, making it the first time that an actor who has left the show says this phrase.
222 2 "Puzzle With a Piece Missing" In this Maggie centric episode, she continues to try to make a positive impression at the hospital but finds herself in extremely unfortunate situations. Meanwhile, Richard continues to hold onto his secret and the doctors work with a dying woman who is being kept alive by her daughter. * It's only the second time in the entire series run that the voice over is narrated by a guest star rather than a main character. This has only been done before in season five, when Denny Duquette, Jr. did the voice over for Stairway to Heaven. However, Maggie would become a series regular later on in the season.
223 3 "Got to Be Real" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (2/12) Owen introduces Callie to the Veterans Hospital patients in hopes that she will help them with her robotic limb lab, Jo becomes jealous of Alex and Meredith’s friendship, and Maggie continues to confide in Richard. Meanwhile, Alex and Bailey prepare to go in front of the board.
224 4 "Only Mama Knows" * Kate Burton as Ellis Grey (1/2) Secrets from Ellis Grey’s past come to light when Meredith watches old videos and reads through her mother’s journals. Meanwhile, Maggie rocks the hospital with an unexpected announcement. 225 5 "Bend & Break" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (3/12) In this Callie and Arizona centric episode, the couple takes a look into the problems that have contributed to their troubled marriage. At work, Callie immerses herself in the Veterans' project, and Arizona struggles to impress Dr. Herman. Meanwhile, Richard leans on Bailey for advice. * This episode marks the second episode of the entire series in which Miranda Bailey does not appear.

Owen becomes invested in a patient when he realizes she may have served in the military, April's mother pays her daughter a visit and bonds with Jackson, and Derek plans a family dinner. Meanwhile, a patient's diagnosis causes Bailey to reconsider her own health issues and Dr. Herman drops a bombshell on Arizona. * Amelia Shepherd does not appear in this episode.
* President Obama is mentioned by Meredith. This confirms that the show follows the presidential line of the real world and does not have its own presidents.

Meanwhile, the doctors spring into action when a couple arrives at the emergency room after escaping a fire. * This episode uses the same Derek and Amelia flashbacks from "Who We Are".
* This is the last episode in which we can see Derek operating in an OR. It is mentioned in later episodes that he had operations, but we don't see them on-screen. We only see him in the OR galerie, scrubbing-in in When I Grow Up and doing surgical procedures outside of an OR in How To Save A Life after this episode.
228 8 "Risk" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (6/12) Maggie and Meredith disagree with Derek about the best way to approach a patient’s case, which leads to a bigger argument between the couple. Meanwhile, Callie feels responsible when one of her veterans is pushed too far and one doctor’s routine procedure results in a devastating diagnosis. * The idea of making April and Jackson's baby sick was pitched by Sarah Drew herself.
* This was one of the Geena Davis's favorite episodes to guest star in.
229 9 "Where Do We Go From Here" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (7/12) As Derek prepares for his move to DC, Meredith keeps herself busy at the hospital. Meanwhile, Jackson and April deal with difficult news, and Arizona and Amelia discuss how to best approach Dr. Herman. * This is Sara Ramírez's 200th appearance as Callie Torres.
* It's also the 200th voice over narrated by Meredith Grey. This number also includes voice overs shared with other characters.
* The opening and ending title card are both unlike those of any previous episode. The opening title card shows the title in broken pieces, like broken glass, while the ending title card features the skyline of Seattle.
230 10 "The Bed's Too Big Without You" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (8/12) April stays optimistic as Arizona begins testing on her baby, Dr. Herman plans out a crash course in fetal surgery, and Owen and Callie encourage each other to get back into the dating scene. * Like the mid-season premiere, this episode features a special version of the ending title card, showing the Grey's Anatomy title with a burning candle in the background.
232 12 "The Great Pretender" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (10/12)
* Jason George as Ben Warren (4/13)
* Debbie Allen as Catherine Avery (2/6)

Meanwhile, Richard feels manipulated by Catherine. * Derek Shepherd and April Kepner does not appear in this episode.
* Like the mid-season premiere, and the previous episode, this episode features a special version of the ending title card, showing the Grey's Anatomy title with Meredith jumping on the bed wearing lingerie in the background. The final title card was cut from the UK airing of the episode.
233 13 "Staring at the End" * Geena Davis as Nicole Herman (11/12) The hospital doctors become fascinated with Dr. Herman's case when Amelia gives a lecture detailing the intricacies of the surgery. In this Amelia-centric episode, Amelia engages in the surgery of a lifetime as a crowd of doctors looks on from the gallery. With Stephanie by her side, she begins operating on Dr. Herman, but quickly realizes it's far more difficult than she anticipated. Meanwhile, Bailey becomes skeptical when Arizona takes on one of Herman’s cases. * Derek Shepherd does not appear in this episode.
* This episode marks the return of April Kepner, who didn't appear in the last two episodes because actress Sarah Drew had her baby.
* This episode features a special opening title card with the incision from Nicole's surgery displayed across it.

* Debbie Allen as Catherine Avery (4/6)
* Kate Burton as Ellis Grey (2/2)
We see how Meredith and the doctors cope after they learn the news of Derek's death. Meanwhile, April makes a shocking decision that Jackson cannot understand, and Bailey and Ben argue over their future. * The opening title card is black with white letters. Normally, this is the ending title card, but it gets used as the opening title card for a sad episode, such as those about the death of a main character. For example, it has been done before in Going, Going, Gone, the episode where Mark died.
* Cristina Yang appears at Derek's funeral as the woman holding Meredith's hand, but she's portrayed by a stand-in instead of Sandra Oh, which is why we only see her from behind in a long shot and only her hands and her hair are shown in close-up.
* This is a two-hour episode which isn't split into two separate episodes, making it the longest episode in the show's history.

As the doctors continue to tackle an unfathomable crisis, they are reminded of what is important and brought closer together. * The episode features a special ending title card, showing Meredith, Maggie, and Amelia dancing at the house in the background.
* This episode marks the final appearance of Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd, until The Center Won't Hold, and the last time he is credited as a main cast member. This is also the last time a series regular will have the annotation of "and" to their credited name until Some Kind of Tomorrow.

Grey's Anatomy (Saison 15)[modifier | modifier le code]

Notes & Trivia[modifier | modifier le code]

  • This is the first season not to feature Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, Jason George, and Martin Henderson as part of the main cast since season six, seven, and twelve, respectively.
  • This is also the first season since season 7 to not feature any departure of a main cast member.
  • This is the first season since season eight to feature Kim Raver as part of the main cast. She did recur on the previous season as a guest star.
  • Ellen Pompeo and Kelly McCreary are the only actors to appear in every episode of this season. However, Ellen is the only one with lines in every episode.
  • Krista Vernoff described this season as "The Season of Love".
  • It was announced in early January 2019 that three additional scripts had been ordered (on top of the original order of twenty-two), giving the season a total of twenty-five episodes. While the extra order hadn't been made official publicly, showrunner Krista Vernoff already knew at the beginning of the season that they would be doing 24 episodes. Thus, ABC only needed Krista to sign off on doing one extra episode.
  • That one extra (previously unplanned) episode turned into a stand-alone episode focusing on Amelia. Krista had had the idea for it in her head, but it wasn't until the extra episode was ordered that she decided it would be included in this season.
